As of 1st November 2007 Aalborg Portland Group has employed Søren Ulslev as new Executive Vice President, General Manager in Unicon A/S and replaces Bo Ankerfelt, who will join the Group Business Development function as responsible for strategic business development pro-jects.
As per 29 September, Aalborg Portland White A/S has entered into an agreement to form a 70:30 owned joint venture together with the owner of BMT, Fico Investment & Building Materials Trading Joint Stock Company, and to acquire the assets of the BMT grinding plant.
The plant is the only white cement grinding plant in Southern Vietnam with a capacity of more than 100,000 MT annually, and with present annual sales of approximately 30,000 MT.

Recently the business area Grey Cement has implemented SAP R/3 in the entire value chain, and now it is necessary to strengthen the IT organisation in Aalborg. The challenges are both found locally in Aalborg and internationally in connection with future SAP projects in other Group companies

On 15 November the Board of Sinai White Cement approved an expansion of the plant in Sinai with a new kiln line with a capacity of 550-580,000 tonnes white cement per year. After the expansion the plant will have a capacity of 1.1-1.2 million tonnes white cement per year to the Egyptian domestic market and to the export markets in the Middle East and the Mediterranean area.
At the Ordinary General Assembly of Aalborg Portland Group on 6 March 2007 Søren Vinther, President & CEO will retire after 13 years as head of the international cement company of Denmark.
To enhance the aesthetic and technical qualities of the light in-situ concrete in Norway, Unicon has started a two-year development project in cooperation with the Research and Development Centre of Aalborg Portland Group
On 8 December 2005 Unicon A/S signed a contract with the Mexican cement and concrete company Cemex on purchasing all 4K Beton activities in Denmark. As part of the arrangement, Cemex was to take over Unicon’s ready-mixed concrete activities in Poland. However, the deal was conditional upon the Polish competition authorities approving of Cemex purchasing Unicon’s Polish activities.
