Aalborg Portland produces cement and concrete at national and international plants. We acknowledge that cement and concrete manufacturing effects the surrounding environment, health and safety, and society in general both locally and globally. The management in Aalborg Portland has therefore decided that production and distribution shall occur based upon management systems and uniformed guidelines for the environment, health and safety, as well as energy, thus being adapted to the local laws and norms in the individual countries.
Due to the Danish companies' many years of experience with energy efficiency, environment, work related conditions, reporting and environmental reporting, the management has decided to focus on these areas within our businesses, to bring about with time, a more common environmental vision and policy.
The cement plant Rørdal in Denmark has since 1995 worked systematically with environmental management and has since 1997 published environmental reports. The plant's work with environment, health and safety and energy, is certified after the following standards:
ISO 14001,
EMAS,
OHSAS 18001 and AT announcement no. 87 and
DS 2403. Aalborg Portland's definition of the environment includes: External environment, health and safety, and energy.
Aalborg Portland's management has in May 2005 agreed upon the environmental vision for the company.
Aalborg Portland will be a responsible company, which promote a sustainable development in relation to the national society's and environmental conditions.It is within the wishes of the environmental vision to incorporate the whole company into the already established environmental cooperation and into the routine of the collecting of data, to continuously live up to the demands of Aalborg Portland with regard to the environment.
